You don’t get to an $852B valuation without breaking a few eggs, but the New Yorker’s latest report suggests Sam might have been breaking the whole kitchen. this investigation suggests the “bad vibes” at the top of OpenAI.
The reporting draws on 2 major internal caches of data that have never been seen before: Ilya Sutskever’s 70-page dossier of Slack messages and HR documents, and Dario Amodei’s private notes from his time leading safety at the company.

Sutskever’s memos allege that Altman consistently misrepresented safety protocols to the board to keep the commercial engine running.

A Microsoft executive told reporters Altman is remembered alongside Bernie Madoff or Sam Bankman-Fried as a world-class scammer.
The timing of OpenAI’s “Industrial Policy for the Intelligence Age” rollout is now being viewed through a much more cynical lens.
Critics, including many of the 100+ sources interviewed, suggest these “lofty ideas” are a classic Altman maneuver: setting up a structure on paper to deflect current criticism, only to dismantle that structure once it actually starts to constrain him.

⚡ Cursor’s “Warp Decode” Hits the Hardware Ceiling
Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) is the undisputed king of model architecture right now, but its bottleneck is legendary. Traditional MoE pipelines spend more time moving, reshaping to fit experts than they do actually calculating results.
Cursor introduced Warp Decode to eliminate the coordination overhead entirely. Instead of grouping work by experts, they map every GPU warp (the basic unit of execution) to exactly one output value. Here is how it actually works:

Every GPU warp computes a single output value directly, aggregating results from all 8 routed experts without intermediate staging.

The entire MoE layer is compressed into just 2 fused GPU kernels.

It completely removes the “padding,” “scatter,” and “combine” stages.

The system reaches 3.95 TB/s memory bandwidth, which is essentially the physical speed limit of the Blackwell HBM3e hardware.

The output is 1.4x closer to a full FP32 reference than standard MoE decoding, a rare speed + accuracy double win.
Usually, in the race for speed, we accept a quality tax. We quantize models down to 4-bit or 8-bit, losing a little bit of the soul to get those extra tokens per second. Cursor’s Warp Decode is a rare breakthrough because it actually improves accuracy while nearly 2x the speed.
