🔬 From Stanford: How Meta-Harness Is Automating the Entire AI Skin
A team from Stanford and Berkeley just dropped a paper called Meta-Harness that might just put the “guess-and-check” method to rest.
Problem: Most current ways to optimize AI performance are like trying to fix a car engine based on a text description of a noise. They give the “optimizer” AI a tiny summary of what went wrong or a simple score. But when an agent fails a complex coding task, a scalar score doesn’t tell you why.
Solution: Meta-Harness gives the optimizer (they used Claude Code) access to a full filesystem. It cranks that up to 10M tokens of diagnostic context per step. They tested this on TerminalBench-2, which is basically a gauntlet for AI agents:
