💸 Anthropic Launches Haiku 5.5 With Insane 90% Price Cut
Anthropic just launched Claude Haiku 5.5, with up to 90% cheaper than Haiku 4.5 for prompts under 100K tokens. Pricing starts at $0.10/M input tokens and $0.50/M output tokens.
-
Anthropic says it is its fastest model to date at standard serving speeds.
-
Haiku now gets an adjustable effort setting, so developers can trade more reasoning for higher cost when needed.
-
It is designed for summaries, classification, routing, compaction, database queries, customer support, browser use, and lightweight subagents.
-
Anthropic specifically positions it as a subagent alongside Sonnet 5.5 or Opus 5.5, letting the larger model handle difficult work while Haiku handles cheap repetitive steps.
-
In HubSpot’s internal CRM evaluation, Haiku 5.5 scored 92.8%, reportedly the highest score they had seen among the smaller models tested.
-
AlphaSense reported an improvement from 0.76 to 0.84 on a 400-query document QA evaluation.
-
It is available on Claude chat, Claude Code, Anthropic’s API, AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure/Foundry.
Anthropic is pushing a tiered agent architecture: expensive models handle difficult reasoning, while very cheap Haiku subagents perform thousands of narrower tasks in parallel. Haiku 5.5 is about making large-scale AI agents dramatically cheaper to run.

5+ POTENTIAL AI BUSINESS IDEAS
💰 I Have 5+ Super Potential AI Business Ideas to Steal (Real Claude Workflows)
OpenAI keeps teasing Astra 6.1, while Dots is already getting a ton of attention.
And honestly, with AI moving this fast, I think some AI business ideas that looked crazy a few months ago are starting to look very real.
So why isn’t AI Fire building all of them? Actually, we’re already busy with the newsletter, community, guides, videos, webinars, and everything else we’re building.
We can’t build every good idea we find. But you might be able to. That’s why I’m sharing the best AI business ideas I’ve found here.
If you have the time, the right tools, and an idea that fits what you’re good at, you may be much closer to a real AI business than you think. Steal these ideas, flows and put it to work.

AI HIGHLIGHTS
✏️ Boris Cherny built Claude Code, yet his prompting advice is surprisingly simple: stop dumping context into your LLM. He says these 3 pieces of things are enough.
✍️ Claude can now sit inside your Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides and actually edit them. Anthropic is beta-testing a Claude sidebar inside these apps for paid users.
😅 Grok Bot may rely on the best external models available, including Opus 5.5. But now my expectations for the next Grok models release just got a little awkward.
🕵️ Google just opened SynthID detection site to everyone, covering images, video, and audio. Next time a suspicious clip goes viral and hits your feed, try this first.
🎛️ GPT-6 and Intelligent UI are rolling out for all users, adding interactive charts, calculators, diagrams, and more visual explanations. Still no GPT-6.1, though.
📱 Meta’s Muse just landed on iPad only one month after its mobile debut. It already has 6.6M installs and new connectors for Notion, GitHub, Canva, Zoom, Meta ads,…
🚨 Common Sense Media called ChatGPT for Teens an “unacceptable risk,” saying it may keep teens engaged even during high-risk crises. OpenAI says the study is flawed.
💰 Big AI Fundraising: Nous Research raised $90M at a $1.5B valuation. Its Hermes Agent has 24M+ clones, drives about 2.5% of global AI token usage, and is now expanding into business agents.

AI BREAKTHROUGH
⚡ Claude Agents Surface Room-Temp Materials for Next-Gen Chips
Vals AI used a team of Claude Opus 5.5 agents to search for materials that could enable faster, denser spintronic memory, and the agents surfaced 2 promising room-temperature magnetic semiconductor candidates.
-
One candidate appears to be a new AI-designed compound with a predicted band gap and magnetic ordering potentially surviving to roughly 420–490 K. Its biggest problem is manufacturability: the atomic arrangement needed for the effect may be difficult to preserve during synthesis.
-
The second was actually synthesized back in 1999. Vals says the agents recognized that it may already have the right combination of near-zero net magnetism and strong spin sorting for a Luttinger-compensated semiconductor.
-
The agents used density functional theory simulations at 2 levels, PBE+U and the more accurate HSE06, to estimate band gaps, spin windows, and magnetic behavior.
Interestingly, the AI did not just summarize papers. It helped design one material, rediscover another overlooked compound, run quantum simulations, compare alternatives, and surface failure modes.
This is an early example of frontier AI agents moving into actual materials discovery.
